Seventy Percent of Surveyed Dessert Fans Believe Chocolate to be Their Ultimate Comfort Food

April 1, 2014 – Northbrook, IL – When given the statement "Chocolate is my ultimate comfort food" in TheBestDessertRecipes.com's first annual survey, over sixty-nine percent of responders responded with "true," confirming the comforting qualities of a world-favorite flavor. This was just one of the many questions posed to readers of The Dessert Dish, TheBestDessertRecipes.com's bi-weekly newsletter, during a two week-long survey conducted at the end of February.
In this first annual survey, The Dessert Dish readers were asked about their general opinions of the newsletter, the site, and site giveaways, as well as their general dessert preferences and experiences. When asked how often they bake at home, seventy-four percent of surveyed readers answered that they indulge once or twice a week. However, when asked how often they eat dessert, only forty-seven percent said once or twice a week while almost forty percent answered three to five times a week.
As predicted, cookies and cake are the two most popular types of desserts among readers, each appealing most to over seventy percent of survey responders. Brownies and dessert bars were also popular among the majority of readers. Interestingly, over seventy percent of readers say that cake mix is their favorite ingredient to bake with. Yet, when surveyed readers were asked to write in different answers than the options given, most write-in answers said that they prefer making desserts completely from scratch. Here at TheBestDessertRecipes.com, we aim to please bakers and dessert enthusiasts with all different tastes. From the results of this survey, we plan to implement new ideas in our newsletters as well as on our site.
