where do you get the starter recipe from. The recipe says not to do anything on Day 1 and mash the bag the days that follow. But what do you start with I see nothing in the recipe that tells you what or how much to put in the bag on day one??????

You'll find the starter recipe on that same page. It's just above where you see the list of days and above the six photos involving a liquid measuring cup and a whisk. It's right below the second photo on the page, which shows two measuring cups (one filled with milk) and a jar of yeast. The recipe for the starter is only available on the page itself, not the pdf that's available for download.
