Made with fresh apples (Granny Smith-preferred), this pie is as flavorful as can be. The filling has a simple spice combination and a bit of heavy cream to give it a bit of juice. This is a shortcut dessert because you don't need to make a homemade pie crust. The homemade apple filling is so good that you just don't have to worry about the crust. So, grab your favorite brand of unbaked pie shells, some apples, and a few other ingredients and bake this classic apple pie recipe. After just one bite, you won't be able to stop yourself from going for seconds or thirds.

Ingredients

  • 2 (9-inch) unbaked pie shells
  • 5 cups apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Peel and slice the apples.

  3. Mix together 3/4 cup sugar, flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and heavy cream. Pour over apples and mix well. Arrange in pastry shells.

  4. Combine 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Sprinkle over top of apples.

  5. Bake 50 to 60 minutes.

Do you have a preference on the apples you use for your recipe? Also, do you use white or brown sugar. I know some people have a big preference about the sugar or apple brand, so I am always making sure before I put the recipe together. I guess it doesn't matter too much, but I want to get it right to see if I like it.
