This Classic Caramel Cake is one classic Southern dessert that can be enjoyed anywhere. The combination of vanilla buttermilk cake and old-fashioned caramel icing is absolutely unforgettable. This cake is light and fluffy, while the icing is sweet and sticky and has the rich caramel flavor that gives this cake its name. The cake's lovely layers make it ideal for any family gathering or special occasion. The layers may seem challening, but this cake recipe is actually quite simple to make. You can line the cake pans with parchment paper to make assembling this cake even easier.

This cake sounds delicious! I've never really made anything like it before, but hopefully the layers won't be too difficult to make.

I adored this cake! It's too bad it's such a hassle to make. I might try halving the recipe so I don't have to worry about making the layers next time.
