My Favorite Chocolate Frosting Homemade Recipe

"This extra creamy homemade chocolate frosting recipe will elevate your cakes to the next level. This easy-to-make frosting recipe is thick and creamy with just the perfect amount of chocolate. Using simple ingredients, this frosting is full of chocolate flavor, it is decadent, but not too sweet, and it has the perfect consistency for decorating cakes. This chocolate frosting is easy to make, takes less than 15 minutes from start to finish, and is better than any store-bought frosting that is available."

Yields3 Cups

Preparation Time10 min

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Unsalted butter (1.5 sticks), softened
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable shortening
  • 4 cups Powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/2 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Heavy cream
  1. To make your frosting, start by adding the butter and shortening into a large mixing bowl.

  2. Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to beat the butter and shortening until smooth.

  3. Add the sifted powdered sugar a little at a time and mix again until creamy and smooth.

  4. Sift in the cocoa powder and mix again. The frosting will be pretty thick!

  5. Add in the vanilla and cream a little at a time until the frosting is at the right consistency.

  6. Continue beating the frosting until it’s thick and smooth!
