We just making vintage desserts! The Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook is filled with tasty, old-fashioned recipes that any home baker can make. Written by bakery owners, Cheryl and Griffith Day, this cookbook is one to keep on a nearby shelf at all times.

They wrote this amazing new cookbook to celebrate the ten year anniversary of their famous, Savannah bakery with the same name. In the cookbook, they share some of the best recipes from their popular bakery. The book is filled with chapters of Southern recipes for cookies, cakes, breads, and even breakfast.

The beginning of the cookbook includes some incredibly helpful chapters on the basics of baking. Included in these opening chapters are sections explaining baking methods, a section on the tools you will need to make the baked goods, and a page regarding the spices used at the bakery. I found these pages to be some of the most interesting to learn from.

The cookbook includes over 100 recipes straight from the Southern bakery. Each of the recipes has an introduction and more often than not, a tip or trick included, too. I learned many great baking tricks just be browsing through the book. Some of our favorite recipes were for Baked Vanilla Custard (pg. 146) and Mexican Hot Chocolate Shortbread (pg. 161), but we can't wait to try them all! Beautiful, full color pictures are throughout the wonderful cookbook.
