Eda's SugarfreeOur Story

In 1958, our founder, Paul Lehman set out on a mission to provide those unable to have sugar, a chance to indulge in candy, one of life’s simple pleasures. A diabetic himself, Paul worked tirelessly in creating his special recipe and opened a small candy shop in Brooklyn Terminal Market, affectionately named after his wife Eda.  Paul created a delicious new candy using a proprietary process with naturally occurring Sorbitol that tasted like real candy and had no aftertaste.

Since this time, Eda’s has remained committed and focused on only one thing: making the best sugar free hard candy available.  While other fads have come and gone, Eda’s has stood the test of time for one reason: It simply tastes better.

 

What makes us different?

Sorbitol, our only sweetener, is a cool, refreshing sugar substitute which occurs naturally in many fruits and berries.  Its use results in minimal absorption of carbohydrates, yielding no net carbs. We have never used any artificial sweetener such as saccharine, sucralose, or aspartame.  Our product is sodium free, gluten free, and our facility is free of nut and dairy allergens. We offer over 34 flavors along with five unique mixes which provide the widest variety of flavors not found anywhere else in the world.
