Tasty Old-Fashioned Vinegar Pie

By: Amy Bartlett from savorymomentsblog.blogspot.com
Old-Fashioned Vinegar Pie
Old-Fashioned Vinegar Pie

"Vinegar pie may sound strange, but this old-fashioned pie was made during the pioneer days when they ran out of fruit over the winter. The pie filling is a custard with a touch of apple cider vinegar. The top of the pie turns golden and slightly crisp from all the sugar. Serve this sweet pie with a fruit like raspberries or blueberries to provide a slight tart compliment. "

You can use vinegar to make pie? I have never heard of this before now. Does it add a sour flavor to the pie? With just the vanilla and nutmeg, I am not sure that those flavors will cover up the vinegar. I would love to try it out and see, I just want to know what it will turn out like before I make it.
