Housewarming Apple Crisp is the perfect fall dessert recipe. It not only fills your home with the smell of warm apples and cinnamon (two of fall's best scents), it also tantalizes your taste buds. Plus, this recipe is as easy to make as it is delicious. Just prepare the filling and the crispy oat topping, put it all in a baking dish, and slide it into your oven. After you've taken a bite, you won't be able to decide what you love more: the way the dessert makes your house smell, or the apple crisp's flavor.

Can I omit the walnuts, or should I substitute something we can use with our tree nut allergy instead? How crispy does this recipe turn out? I can never find a crisp recipe that is crunchy enough. If you get too much liquid, the oats always soak it up and get mushy on me.

I like apples so much that I usually am perfectly content to eat them straight, but this recipe looks too tempting not to try!
